New Orleans Jazz -- "O Holy Night"

ok, one last post before leaving on a jetplane.
I am starting to be fan of "Studio 60", the new NBC series featuring Matthew Perry (Friends) and Bradley Whitford (West Wing). Last week show had an amazing musical performance by New orleans musicians.

You can download the mp3 at http://www.nbc.com/Studio_60_on_the_Sunset_Strip/music/studio_60_o_holy_night.mp3

Six Days - DJ Shadow by WKW

I am leaving on Sunday for Paris but I did not want to go without posting a great music video that was released a few years ago.

Six Days.
Music: DJ Shadow.
Director: Wong Kar Wai
Director of Photography: Christopher Doyle
Actors: Chang Chen and Danielle Graham

What not to like!!! Well, the YouTube video encoding does spoil a bit the beauty of the cinematography.

Enjoy!

mp3tag is an metadata editor for many audio formats (aac, flac, mp4, wma, mp4, ape, etc....)

I haven't used this tool yet, but it sounds like a great tool if you need to clean a massive amount of audio files in various formats.

Let me know if you have used mp3tag before.

Solution to deliver and control music all over the house

For the last several months, I've be investigating how I could listen to the music available on my computer everywhere in my place and control it. Until now, I've been running an RCA cable between my computer and my amplifier. When I need to change song, I need to go to my computer, if I am in my kitchen or bedroom, it isn't ideal. To distribute the music around my place, I am thinking about an amplifier with several outputs (A, B, A + B type) or I could add a distribution amp/switcher. I don't mind so much going to the main amp to decide where i want to listen the music.

Who is going to SXSW music in Austin (March 14-18, 2007)? I'll be there for the SXSW interactive (March 9-13), thanks Cornell!! I am hoping to stick around for a few more days, and I would definitely be happy and willing to give a hand to Project Opus if needed.

Oh, Are there bands from Project Opus performing at SXSW? I hope so.

Let me know,

Playing back Ogg Vorbis in iTunes.

iTunes has been over the years my favorite app to play back music on the Mac, not sure if it was by lack of choice... anyhow, iTunes supports a lot of media formats (wav, AIFF, mp3, mp4, etc) basically all the audio formats supported by QuickTime.

But what it doesn't support by default is native FLAC such as Ogg Vorbis.

Thanks to the Xiph QuickTime Components (XiphQT), you can now listen to those files within iTunes (and any other app relying on QuickTime for its audio playback).

Meet. Mix. Mashup online

Another cool site, allowing users to mix music online in real time.
Check it out http://www.splicemusic.com/
The samples are covered under the Creative Commons licensing, so you can mix/share/distribute as much as you want. Then download your mix as a MP3 or share your sequencer.

The whole sequencer app uses Flash and can even access your USB microphone or iSight. Very nice!

Flash web app MusicMap is a search visualization tool that lets you search for musicians or albums and see related artists in a webbed network of relation.

I am not sure how accurate it is, but the flash animation is definitely cool.

I have quite a few songs in my iTunes library. So far I've used some AppleScripts to search for the album covers on Google, Amazon and SlothRadio, but it still required me to manually drag each image into iTunes, which can be very tidious.
