I have heard from several brilliant friends that linux is just the bomb. And as I am stranded on this sinking Microsoft vessel, just looking for an escape (or is that my satisfaction that is sinking? ) regardless, I am considering my options. As a confessed music junkie, is it possible that a new music player may have some influence on my choice of OS? Well according to the comments on digg there may be a windows release soon anyway. (but i STILL have to abandon ship!)
With all the DRM talk going on this week, I ponder if the day may come when the computing is cheaper than the content on it. Whatevar, that day is certainly not now. I'm in the market for a new laptop, and with Vista being unleashed on the planet, (not even the courtesy of a link here) to much ballyhoo, I am having problems with the idea of going that route again. I am honestly considering a mac. *gasps* Sadly, it barely matters WHAT choice I make. Between hardware, OS, software etc, it will still be couple K at least, and photoshop still isnt any faster to load than it was 10 years ago. Whats going on? I dont need a $100 laptop or anything, but between that visionary project, the geekdom that is linux (more on this later) and the open source revolution, its not hard to imagine a day when the cost of 'technology' becomes insignificant compared to what you are doing with it.
