| Biography: | Tales from Abott
Tales From Abott combines melodic clean sounds with pounding metal guitars and punk aggression, creating a new progressive metal sound, in the style of classic bands such as Yes and Pink Floyd blended with modern metal bands like Tool and Mastodon.
Formed in March 2006 under the name Black Swan, Mike Fabro, Cesar, Henry and Erick Medina began playing and writing music. Each of the band members had been influenced by different styles of music, so it took a few months before truly original songs were created mixing influences from Metal, Funk, Punk, Classical and Jazz. What really brought the band together was the desire to stray away from the pack of predictable rock acts. “We wanted to be a refreshing change from others bands around right now and have our music and lyrics tell a significant story”. In June 2006, Black Swan had their first studio session,. producing an original demo “Insignificant” which can be found on the MySpace page. A few shows were played in support of the release locally in White Rock. However with management and production issues the band had an unfortunate hiatus during most of the summer. While the band took a break, writing new material became priority and in Late August Black Swan decided to give it another shot. With a fresh start and the songs sounding significantly different in quite a progressive style, a band name change was in need and hence the name Tales From Abott.
The enthusiasm of the new direction led to a burst of creativity in the new year. Tales From Abott has created four original songs which have been recorded on the demo C.D. The demo begins the story of “The Beast From Sunshine Hill”. It talks about getting possessed by an uncontrollable beast that takes over ones sanity. All attempts to unlock the curse fail, leaving the protagonist stranded and searching for answers. The writing is abstract allowing people to have their own interpretations of the message being portrayed. The demo is only the beginning and the second half, which completes the story and the first full release from Tales From Abott, is in progress is expected to be completed in early 2008
The Demo was recorded in Vancouver at QC studios with the help of Engineer Michael Maneschyn, and production help given by Chris Russell.
