And that tells you something about musician Allison Crowe.

A modern lover of music, blogger Muruch frames it like this: "There's really no way to convey through mere words how much the music... moves me, or how I want other people to listen to and adore it as much as I do. Allison sings with such an intensity of emotion, it's easy to see why she's often quoted as saying 'Why music? Why breathing?'... that kind of artistic passion seems extremely rare these days."

"I love singing for people," says Allison Crowe. "It's a way to connect and share with others. Communication is crucial. Just being able to do what I do, to write and sing and perform, makes me feel not only alive, but incredibly lucky. Born 26 years ago, on an island, in the harbour city of Nanaimo, B.C., today Crowe's reach is global. The audience for her music videos and song downloads numbers in the millions.

Self-taught and trained as a classical pianist, Aaron began to branch out in search of piano styles that were out of the realm of his origin. Though George Winston and Michael Nyman were two of beginning inspirations, their music gave him something to look forward to and also began helping him craft his talent.

He began playing around age 4 on his great-aunt’s cherry wood Wurlitzer Upright Console piano. The piano had been in the family for nearly 20 years by the time Aaron took an interest in playing. At the time, his older cousin was learning to play. She taught him his first song on the piano: The Boogie Woogie. The piano was what he looked forward to most when visiting with his great-aunt and great-grandmother. Also at age 4, Aaron showed signs of an artistic nature. He began drawing things he saw, from flowers to cartoon characters on VHS tape cases. His family knew that they had produced yet another spawn of shear and natural talent. Within the next 10 years Aaron would go on to become a skilled and disciplined artist and dressmaker, only to postpone any interests he had in piano music.

Though through the course of his school career he was involved in music theory classes, as well as Choir, Aaron hadn’t touched a piano until his sophomore year in high school. When school let out for that year and he was officially a junior, Aaron bought his first piano as a birthday present and began to teach himself to play once more. Once his grandmother heard him play, she asked that he take piano lessons for guidance and insisted on paying herself. Aaron did not argue with the mutual decision but dreaded his first lesson after hearing so many stories: “I think it’s a lot of children’s greatest fears: The piano teacher. I mean, we’ve all heard the horror stories that made playing the piano far from fun which is why for the longest time, I refused to take professional lessons.” He did, however, find the myths to be untrue after his first lesson. He met a woman who would change his life forever: Marilyn Kelly...

The girl next door meets the devil that everybody pretends they dont know. With writing that is "...dramatic, dynamic, emotive, and unpredictable" (Gian Fiero - The Muse's Muse ), Dasha showcases her own style of modern day piano-centric rock in a very unforgettable way.

Dasha, a classically trained pianist, grew up listening to an unlikely mix of Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Pantera, Metallica, Tool, Faith no More and Guns n Roses. She wrote her first song when she was 13, received a FACTOR grant soon thereafter and currently spends most of her time on stage and in the studio with bands and as a solo artist.

Dasha spent just over a year with a Vancouver hard-rock band called SoWhatNothing. Dasha was the core songwriter as well as singer and pianist in this original band. SoWhatNothing quickly received a lot of attention in a very short time. A few of their most notable accomplishments included receiving a full clothing sponsorship from MACHINE Clothing out of Toronto ON, playing 30+ live gigs in 9 months, touring to Toronto, receiving frequent radio play on Vancouver's rock giant 99.3 CFOX's Indie Night In Canada, playing twice Live On Air on CFOX (6 O'Clock Rock Report as well as on Indie Night In Canada), and playing live on local TV show Urban Rush.

After gaining a great deal of experience and creating a bunch of new fans, Dasha opted to go solo and pursue the music that suited her most; a little bit of rock, a little bit of aggression, a little bit of hook and a whole lot of passion.

I'm a nutty musician who somehow got herself known in the European metal scene, even though I'm not really a super-mega-metal-diva girl. But that's not a secret. Not one I'm keeping, anyway!

In a business where image often overshadows substance, Amanda Somerville gives the industry CPR with a breath of sincerity through music that is so real, it's goosebump-inducing. It took a while, but Elese grew up. She grew up tall, she grew up proud, she grew up singing. And, of course (as in every good story) she grew up restless. So she sold her problems for a penny, put her hopes in her pocket, and set out to embrace the world.
But each corner of that world had problems of it's own. One was too hard, one was too hot, one was too cold and one just didn't speak her language. Thus, left with no recourse, she voiced her frustration at displacement with her only available weapon: music. The powers that be heard, and granted her a land of her own, Song. Out of the ashes of the renowned Las Vegas band, GOD AMONG MEN, comes a unique breed of rock band. Shortly after receiving two awards from LAS VEGAS WEEKLY and becoming a Jagermeister sponsored band, GAM found Los Angeles based management and signed a Demo Deal with John Kolodner of Columbia Records. Months of negotiations ensued but due to conflicting artistic visions the group decided not to ink the deal, and pursued other projects. Soon after, Liz began writing new material with former GOD AMONG MEN guitarist Blair, and they began the search for new band members.

After several months the two met Mackenzie, former drummer of the short-lived but powerful L.A. band DEVILLE. The band included former members of Roadrunner Records band DOWNER, and made quite an impact on the L.A. scene before parting ways. Mackenzie is also known in Los Angeles for his acting resume, guest starring in numerous high profile dramas such as NYPD Blue, The Practice, The Shield, CSI, Charmed, Freaks and Geeks, City of Angels and Chicago Hope to name a few, as well as various sitcoms including Malcolm in the Middle, Three Sisters, The King of Queens and Action, and multi episode stints on Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. He also recently held leads in two feature films, The Affair and Ancient Warriors, both online and in stores now.

The search for the perfect bassist lasted for months after the initial birth of the new band. The group eventually met Jesus, who miraculously appeared from Detroit. Jesus immediately fit the bill, and the band quickly finished writing an album's worth. The new membership proved solid and inspirational, pushing each member to new creative heights.

33DEGREE may have a vocalist and guitar player in common with G.A.M., but that is where the similarities end. Adding another level of complexity and a decided sense of style to their presentation, "33DEGREE possess a magnetic stage presence bursting with intensity. With Discourse Poetic, you can never be sure what you’re going to hear. The Calgary based band has a vast collection of original material covering an eclectic range of emotion, sound and thought. Band members Amy Thiessen and Jarred Nicklen each draw from unique life experiences when writing, and yet somehow combine their diverse styles into a truly original sound. Depending on what song the band decides to open with, an audience member on a Tuesday can make a different first impression of Discourse Poetic than someone listening on a Thursday. Writing and singing have been a staple in her life and she has come to realize that her passion can become her reality. Amy’s spirit is her driving force, her power, her energy. Involved in yoga and meditating, Amy is able to not only find drive but beauty and love; assets that propel her in music and creativity. A 3 month journey throughout India confirmed that for her. The Piano has been his best friend since he was 8 and has stuck with him through every change in his life. Jarred decided to add another friend to the mix when he picked up the guitar a few years ago, adding a new element to his musical prowess. As a child, Elizabeth Bruce was told to grow a thicker skin. She chose, instead, to write music. She was an avid choirgirl in grade school, and by high school was using her self-taught piano skills to accompany herself and compose simple tunes. Folk sounds too wholesome and pop too flashy to describe her sound. This alt/folk/pop musician's inventive yet accessible songs aim to blur the boundaries between genres. Writing her own songs from an early age has allowed her ample time to perfect an original style which might accurately be described as sultry, intelligent and quirky.

Elizabeth has performed in a variety of venues, principally in Montreal and her hometown of Ottawa, notably at Montreal's Cafe Esperanza and Casa del Popolo.

Formerly a regular at Montreal's Yellow Door coffeehouse, Elizabeth has slowly started to branch out recently, working with other young artists around Montreal. All of her music to this point has been solo, but recently has begun seeking members for a band. In November she recorded a three song mini-cd titled Handmaden.

Elizabeth's work is not limited to the pop side. She has performed in several high-calibre choirs in Montreal, including Cantare and the choir at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul. She received a B.A. in music from McGill University, and her grade 10 piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is currently teaching music and working towards her graduate diploma in voice performance at Concordia University.
