| Biography: | Sugarblade was started in July 2004 when Miguel Staunton and Alec Brietzke first sat down together to jam out some songs. Both musicians had just come from broken bands and had been looking forward to doing an acoustic project to take a bit of a break. Realizing that the songs had real potential the duo decided to try the full-band approach once again. Recently coming out of a band herself, (Maverick recording artist, "Lillix"), Kim Urhahn seemed an ideal addition on drums. Soon after, Greg M., an old friend of Alec's, joined the trio on bass, thus completing the band. It became obvious after only a few live shows that Sugarblade had something special. The band gained a loyal following instantly and has been playing relentlessly to rave reviews and an ever-growing fanbase. The band released a 7-song EP entitled "Faux" in July of 2006, which has been selling steadily and exposing them to more and more fans. Several independent and college radio stations have recently added Sugarblade to their regular rotation and the band is poised to take their music to the highest level possible. |

| Biography: | The Iacoponi Experience are a catchy three piece alternative indie rock band from Berkhamsted, near London, UK. Band members include: Andy Kirk on vocals and guitar, Martin Iacoponi on bass guitar, and Elliot Ledger on drums. The band all met in 2000 at the age of 10 as members of the same prep school, but didn't form as a band until late 2005 when Elliot finally got a drum kit as a christmas present. The problem of a band name came about before there first gig in early March 2006, a school talent show. Ideas flew about and 'The Iacoponi Experience', was suggested initially as a joke, due to the high popularity which Martin Iacoponi (our bassist) had with the opposite sex, all of them seeming to want the same thing, 'The Iacoponi Experience'. The other two band members thought this was very funny, so then confirmed this name with the teacher in charge before actually conferring with Martin, who, needless to say, had absolutely no say in the matter; the name was just intended for this one school show anyway... However, the name never changed. After the first gig we were 'on the map', people knew who we were, 'The Iacoponi Experience' was born. But it was not until the following year that things began to pick up a bit of momentum. Many songs were written in surges of creativeness, "I'll Be There" finding its way as our first hit with the public. In March 2007, The Iacoponi Experience performed this as their first single at The Talent Show, but then things took a turn for the worst. The band could never seem to agree a time to practice, and as a result, the song writing stopped, we were drying up. (But, we did get away with secretly stealing some bottles of wine at a party, playing drinking games in another room, and not being disturbed as people thought we were having 'band issues'. When they cottoned on, the third bottle was being finished...) However, strong friendship pulled us through these hard days, and in December 2007 we released our first CD, 'The Iacoponi Experience - EP', a 6 track EP including the hit single "I'll Be There", and the slower moving "Those Times", as well as a live version of "I'll Be There" from The Talent Show 2007. This kick started the creationism in the band once again, with a fresh batch of new songs on its way. March 2008 saw the band headline The Talent Show 2008 with their upcoming, second single "Everyoung", as well as a heart-stopping performance by an expanded band playing "Smooth" by Santana, with Elliot moving to lead guitar; also a substitute drummer, backing vocals, piano, and two trumpets were all involved. This can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdCx9Lj6a0I For the summer of 2008, the band have now employed an 'open release', meaning that they are going record songs as they are written, and to release songs as they are recorded. Having heard the first single "Everyoung" at The Talent Show, expectation could not be higher. Let's hope it does not disappoint... |

| Biography: | Sender is a 4 piece rock band from Bendigo in Central Victoria. The band has been described as being somewhere between Muse, silverchair and Foo Fighters and has developed into a tremendously tight and intense live act with a flair for writing accessible rock songs. It all started in Bendigo in 1995 when 4 high school friends started jamming to the likes of Nirvana & silverchair. After performing at various school functions and local concerts, Bohdan Dower, tried his hand at creating his own material and found he had the flair for writing songs - the first being penned at only 14 years of age. Over the next couple of years the band slowly built a repertoire of new, original material and Zenyth www.myspace.com/zenythband began developing a loyal following of fans. Regular gigs throughout Victoria saw them perform with the likes of Killing Heidi, 28 Days, Magic Dirt and Something For Kate. In the years leading up to 2003, the band took out several battle of the bands competitions including the State Final in the 1999 Rock Eisteddfod, leading to a performance at Melbournes National Tennis Centre, an event televised nationally on Channel 10. 2000 saw more competition appearances including the massive Push On 2000 final at Melbournes Luna Park, plus performances at the launch of National Youth Week at The Chapel in Prahran and at The Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne. In 2001 the band released their debut EP Threedoublefivesix which was produced, recorded, engineered and funded by the band, which lead to them breaking more ground with live performances across the state. Threedoublefivesix went to a second pressing and has since sold out and has now becomes a collectors item as Zenyths one and only CD release. Whilst still playing live under the now retired moniker of Zenyth, the band took out the title to the 2002 National MusicOz Competition, winning recording time at Sony Music Studios in Sydney, recording 2 songs under the esteemed guidance of Paul McKercher - one of this countrys most respected engineers. With a tremendous catalogue of songs and a name change to Sender, the band signed to Sony Music Australia in Jan 2003, and headed into Melbournes Birdland Studios to record a 5 track EP with producer Lindsay Gravina (The Living End / Magic Dirt). The tracks were then mixed by Rick Will (Incubus, Ben Harper, Sandrine, Lo-Tel) and Roger Sommers (Allanis Morisette, Rage Against The Machine, K. D. Lang) resulting in an outstanding debut 5 track self titled EP Sender released in May 2004. www.sendermusic.com The next 4 months saw national across the board TV and radio airplay for lead track Youre on Fire on Video Hits, So Fresh, MMM, NOVA, MTV and Channel [V] and full regional radio coverage. The band hit the road scoring national supports of Hoobastank, Switchfoot, Tenacious D, Killing Heidi and The Screaming Jets completing nearly 70 gigs and sales of the EP exceeding 5,500. The beginning of 2005 Sender start to write and demo 15 new songs for Sony and after much discussion with the label, the band ask to be released from their contract which Sony kindly agreed to. Sender are now set to record their debut album themselves and look forward to another 10 years of rock. Senders yet to be named debut album is pencilled for release September 2006. |

| Biography: | "...in the realm of Sonic Youth or Fugazi..." - Max Kauffman Hailing from Culver, Indiana, plankton is comprised mainly of Matt Pare and Tina Pare on bass, vocals, and guitar. 2006 began with plankton appearing on WNIT's "Open Studio," a program on local public television focusing on talent in the station's viewing area. Because of that appearance, plankton was invited to play a show at a popular club with crowd-drawing bands from the South Bend/Mishawaka area. At the time plankton had no drummer. Chris Nespo (Evil 10 Submission, US Thrash Company, Dorks With Glasses) had been sought out to play the TV spot but was unable to play the date of the club gig. From an ad placed in the forum of a venue's web site,Tim Post (Wichita Kansas Trailer Park Conspiracy) agreed to play the show and ended up staying with the band for a stretch of accomplishments. These include breaking into many venues formerly unreachable by the band and being selected to participate in the Chicago Bodog Battle of the Bands. Tim left the band in September 2006 for personal reasons. Plankton wishes Tim the best and everyone is looking forward to keeping in touch. For the time being, catch Chris Nespo or Jerry Mitchell (Jet Stream, Bad Habbit) on drums with the band! Matt was in a band in 1992 when he met Tina. That band went bust, but Tina and Matt stayed together. Tina began to learn bass. Matt and Tina searched for a drummer to suit their music. For one reason or another, people never worked out. In January of 2003 plankton was joined by Eric Scott on drums (Eric left the band in late 2005). Right away they new they could have something special if they practiced hard. Festivals, battles of the bands, private parties, and a free public performance on the Fulton County Court House (Indiana) lawn sponsered by the Fulton County Public Library have all contributed to the band’s growth and progress. They have been working their butts off to craft their originals into a crowd pleasing set of shock, amazement, and yes, even the occasional offense. So...what do you call THAT? Boyd Nutting, owner of now-defunct-but-always-in-our-hearts Club Cackle in South Bend, Indiana, described plankton as "Post-Punk / Art Rock." Something that helps to set plankton’s music apart, Matt and Tina switch off on bass and guitar. They both played drums in other bands. Adding to that, they write all the songs, and do all the recording themselves in their studio, Splatcat Records, with Matt acting as the band's ample engineer. Being a totally DIY band, Tina makes all the band's t-shirts - dying and printing them by hand. Influences run up and down these lines: King Crimson, Talking Heads, Beck, Midnight Oil, Laurie Anderson, Shellac, Big Black, Throwing Muses, Pixies, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Danny Elfman, Tim Burton, Wire, Firehose, Tool, Ella Fitzgerald, The Modern Jazz Quartet, XTC, Brian Eno, Joe Jackson, The Fall, Cure, New Order, Joy Division, Duran Duran, Juliana Hatfield... Bands plankton has been compaired to include Ween, Cake, Portishead, Pixies, PJ Harvey, The Breeders, Pink Floyd, and for some reason... The Cranberries. |
