My thoughts on Anatomy of Angels
My fingerprints are all over the music and lyrics for this song.
My main inspiration for my lyrical contibutions to this track came from when I was riding the bus home after a night on the town. This guy sat down next to me and attempted to convince me to become a member of his church. Needless to say I found the condesending nature of his persusation to be rather hypocritical if not completely fanatical.
As a result I wrote some lines that I discribe as fictional accounts of what the dilliusions of Torquamada could have been like. Typhus vocalist Finn Wylie ran with the theme and put his 2 cents in.
Finn wound up suprizing me greatly when we did these recording sessions. Mainly because everything he sang in these sessions, he went back and double tracked on a seperate track flawlessly. It was the first time Typhus had recorded with Finn. I was impressed with his level of vocal talent. You might think he's growling. But Finn can growl the exact same way whenever he wants without losing meter or tone.
The music is a co-labouration of riffs from me and Typhus guitarist Chris Parrish. I was listening to alot of early In Flames at the time and wanted to emulate the "Goethenburg Metal" sound.
I also did the drum tracks for this song in one take like I did for Broken Spirit.... this song is from the same session.
