... exists beyond the big hair and cowboy hats on CMT ... Real hardcore traditional country music values are still practised by those who haven't distorted it into Def Leppard style arena shows (Mr. Brooks and Misters Brooks and Dunn) ... there is a whole slew of singer/songwriters out there who subscribe to keeping the music back to earth, some famous, some respected within the community. The famous: Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle (well at least in Canada) ... the respected: Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark These guys are living and breathing it on the edge in Nashville ... Mr. Bennett is one of the best I've heard in awhile. Of course this review has nothing to do with the fact that we have the same last name (not even remotely related to my knowledge)

Damn. I swear I hated country. But damn it! I'm loving it! Is this because I'm aging? now living in Calgary? What? Gary Bennett is awesome. Listen to the whole album. This ain't no country cross over. This is straight up unrepentant country. And shock of all shocks - I like it!

Even though I'm not a huge country fan - I have to say this track is a-ok - reminds me of a road trip I did in Alberta recently.
