You can take this information as shameless promotion or as the honest truth because its a little of both...LOL
If you've not yet heard of Coolfire then you need check out the U.K.'s best site for unsigned and independent music. If your looking for music or your looking to have your music heard by people that want more than what the mainstream media has to offer, then this is where you want to start.
The site is run by the great geeQ, here's how he describes what his site is all about.

"It's difficult for me to describe what coolfire is because the idea is always evolving in my mind. On the face of it coolfire is simply a free music download site. One which attempts to communicate through it's own style how I feel about music, and how important I believe music is. You see for me music and therefore sound is a very powerful natural occurance which has the ability to shape our lives, and to a certain extent define who we are and who we are yet to become. I see music as the ultimate form of human expression and communication, it gives us the ability to communicate on an emotional level where we can describe our feelings and emotions, our stories of happiness and sadness to others who choose to listen.

In essence coolfire provides a place to simply distribute music to like minded groups and individuals. However more recently coolfire has become more than this. It is also allowing me to help find and invest in some of the most talented artists you are ever likely to hear. To not only help bring their music to a wider audience but also to help fund there future work through the Sellaband initiative.

Of course creating awareness and helping fund an artists work can and do help, but in order to make a living artists need to have a conduit which allows them to sell there music and that's why coolfire has now evolved from a simple free music download site to include it's own online store.

So for me coolfire exists to allow me to realise my ambition of being able to help talented and like minded artists to not only reach a wider audience of music listeners but also to help support them through their own musical journey. And on the flipside coolfire allows me to provide a simple environment for people to download and buy independent music without the modern day distractions that plaque so many music sites now.
My hope is that during your visit here you will understand music to be more than just a simple product but a deeper more profound form of communication that cannot and should not be viewed simply as a way of making money."
