The Spring Breakout! Aftermath...

Eight broken drumsticks, at least a dozen or more picks, the water over the drumset cleaned up and 3 very tired but very happy band mates... It is now officially the morning after.
The Spring Breakout! the greatest Haven-produced show ever, took place last night, March 15th. But before I describe the night to you so the video blog makes a bit of sense... We’d like to thank everyone who came out and rocked it up with us, including the bands, Edward Teach, Against Grey, and Ball and Dagger. All three are amazing bands, look for them!
Now, the day of The Spring Breakout! started as Chris walked into my house with makeup artist Lyren Lanthier http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lyren-Lanthier/23725425382! . I swear to my guitar that her bag is as heavy as an elephant! Well maybe not that heavy but no doubt it’s too heavy! Next came sitting for almost an hour having our make-up done! Yay! I love it, Lyren is absolutely amazing. In the end my eyes reminded me of a ladybug. Bella’s was awesome to, as Bella describe’s it "I’m a bird, I’m a plane, I’m Bella!" don’t ask, I don’t know what she’s talking about! A big thank you to Lyren!
The NIGHT of March 15th started for Haven as we walked into the Firehall Center at 6:10pm, Bella and I late as per usual and Chris, of course, early and already there (he had left before we were done make-up). The next hour was one of much running around for equiptment and organising lights and... the gift of a surprise birthday cake for Haven photographer, Amanda. After way too much ice cream cake, doors opened and people were piling in. Sometime after seven, the show started and the fun began. Edward Teach had a bunch of crazy shirtless fans, kudos to them! Next up, Against Grey rocked up the stage up with their music, a broken string prompted a few funny jokes from singer, Stewart. Then Ball and Dagger, a symphony in a band. The really used their skills as musicians and songwriters to put together some really rocking tunes. I know the fans enjoyed them.
For some back stage tidbits before I announce the many things that happened on stage...
All throughout the night, when the bands weren’t up or there was a small emergency, the most frequent being "Where’s John!?", Bella, Chris and I decided it would be fun to take some pictures of ourselves... now these very stupid and silly pictures are viewable under "Pictures" on the Myspace. There are more backstage pictures to be added by Lyren.
Okay so, Haven on stage. After setting up everything but, the drumset that never ends, I set off to find tape to tape the microphone to the stand because it fell off... Finally, Chris is ready, we look at one another and I start riling the crowd up. We rocked up the first few song and brought back an old favourite... Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. We saw a bunch of people singing along to our rocked up version. Then... the grandest moment of the night. There I was, trying to announce "Alive" and out of no where, Chris spits water at Bella. And as we all know, Bella cannot, not retaliate so there she goes... and she spat at Chris. Bella turned around, I tried to announce the song again but... Chris throws water at the back of Bella’s head once more... She flips! turns around and throws the entire content of the water bottle at Chris and his drums. Chris laughs and beats the living daylight out of his drums, Bella shakes her head. Anyone see the wrong in this? They interrupted my announcement of a very ’sincere’ song! Haha, whatever right? It was worth seeing Bella flip.
Then, "Hurt", Johnny Cash styled Nine Inch Nails song. We had over half the people singing along! A real pleasure for us up on stage. Now, Drum Solo. OMG,you should have heard the crowd! "The Anthem" a new one... the crowd counted us in! Last two songs we rocked hard. So hard, we supposably rocked the socks off one fan!
