...as the late great Frank Zappa once asked?

So I was having a conversation about this with a friend. Their feeling is that if you use humour in a biography of a band, it stops people taking the music seriously. I think that it shouldn't make a difference - surely people will realise that the songs speak for themselves? And nothing puts me off a band more than when they take themselves too seriously. But I'm interested in other opinions - so let me know what you think.

I think people who take their music seriously, are humourous.
Do comedians take their humour seriously?
If you are serious about your music you will build into your music, various levels that will appease a cross section of listeners. Those that see the humour in everything and those that are seriously focused on the nuts and bolts of life... and their music.

I'm serious!

Good call. My attitude has always been that there's too many rock stars out there who think they're the be all and end all of it. I'd never be able to respect that attitude on anyone who can't fill a stadium! If you're serious about your music people will hear and respect that no matter what you write in the accompanying biography / notes etc. That's my take anyway.

Why take it so serious?

Maybe that,s their religion to praise themselves as god,s so you are right if the take it so seriously that they have no humor so I go along with what you said.

but I love Jesus.He I praise and he is grovy.
