Are you surprised

Is anyone surprised by this? The fact that stories made it as far as they did without anyone being so bold as to "touch" the beast is scary. Sadly, this whole farce was covered as somewhat legitimate news in mainstream media.
Modern day myths

Actually, it's pretty common in mainstream media to report on sensational topics without doing a whole lot of research. Has anyone touched Osama Bin Laden and found out he is actually a puppet of the CIA?
The beauty of mainstream media exists in it's ability to fabricate modern day mythology from stories and reporters limited views.
I have very little faith in the concept of 'legitimate news', apart from understanding that the meaning of 'News' is really only hearing opinions on things that are new to you.
Want to believe

I wonder if things like this thrive because people just want to believe in the old myth.
Psuedo-propoganda-infotainment killed my faith in mainstream media, but ridiculous hype and manipulation prevents my trust in citizen journalism. Where can I find my truths?
music is fantasy?

People are very inclined to base their present realities on a set of beliefs. Their assumptions (whether fact or fiction) become the groundwork for the projected future. However the future often doesn't manifest, due to major flaws in belief structures.
I often wonder if it really is important for everyone to know about everything that happens on the planet. Local concerns are best dealt with locally and the most focus can be achieved by filtering the information taken in to the mind. Deal with the present situations in front of you and let the other side of the world deal with their own problems. This methodology would also diminish conflicts caused by agressive international empire builders.
Of course, there is the other side of the picture which deals in Fantasy...
a good story is worth listening to for it's entertainment value.

...and fantasy can be very inspiring.

I love suspending belief through fantasy. Music is a powerful escape.
Junk like the Bigfoot scam are pathetic grasps at attention rather than a well crafted story. (Think 1930s radio and War of the Worlds.)
