Widen my Myspace circle of friends

Submitted by HK on Thu, 2006-08-17 20:10. (from HK's myspace blog)

In case someone have noticed it, my number of friends here at Myspace have increased alot in the past weeks.Amazing this whole Myspace-thing I got into it earlier this year as just a little experiment and now.....Well, it\'s now my no.1 source for finding new music and artists !To begin with I had some idea about keeping it to a minimum with only country and sort of americana and roots music but it didn\'t take long to realize that just about any kind of music is here. And my musical taste is after all pretty varied, even though some might find that a little bit hard to belieive ...So I started a little musical trip here on Myspace to make some new friends and perhaps find some old ones as well.I really don\'t know why, but I set my destination south at once to dive into the magic mystery sounds of Persian / Arabian music I guess I\'ve listened to little to those wonderful sounds lately...Then I\'m personaly convinced that I\'ve spent one of my past lives as a camel mechanic in southern Iran, or something like that because this music just go straight into my heart. Really rather odd...It didn\'t take long to find an old acquaintance; Azam Ali !Just listen to her, and also her bands Niyaz and Vas, close your eyes and just float away over the dunes  !Then I also found Mor Karabasi, a wonderful Israelian singer !I then took a little detour to more Celtic sounding areas of Myspace and brought home Enyas little sister Moya Brennan !Not at all as exotic and enchanting as Azam, but very, very beautiful music. She also became my 100th friend, so gratulations Moya and drop by for a cup of coffe and some cake  !Soul Path and Palodine followed home from this trip as well and they fitted right in.Then I took a turn down to the southern United States for a while to see if I could pick up some ol\' favorite sounds. And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, there she was, Billy Anne Crews   ...Out of this world !Talk about \" music that sounds like a gravel road smells on a summer evening \" ! Awesome...When I got home from that little trip I noticed that Molly Hatchet tagged along, but I was so exited over Billy Anne that I hardly noticed them \nSo now we will see where the next musical space journey takes me.I wouldn\'t be surpriced if I set up an expedition to Turkey !You know there are some amazing Turkish popular music out there !Just the names of some of the artists; Bendeniz, Ebru Gundes, Sibel Can , Seda Sayan, Sibel Tuzun and Sertab Erener just to mention a few !Just incredible music .And just to listen to their language is an experience out of the ordinary !
