What's going on here?

I've been inspired by the few reviews that these tracks have received to post a little explanation. Before I do that, however, I would like to thank those of you who have taken the time to listen and provide feedback: I really appreciate it. Anyway...

Both reviews that have been posted so far reference the somewhat incongruous drum machine spatterings behind the tracks. One mentioned popping popcorn, and the other questioned whether they were experimental or last minute (and perhaps even a year behind the times).

Believe it, or not, this was all done very much on purpose. The drum are supposed to be entirely out of synch with the rest of the instruments: a strange cacophony of snaps and cracks inspired by some of the crazier jungle and drum n bass producers (hence the references I've made to Aphex Twin and Squarepusher). It was experimental, but definitely not last minute. Every last snare roll was carefully, and lovingly, crafted. And as for their timeliness (or lack there of), I actually recorded this in 2002 so I guess that means I was three years ahead of my time. Laughing out loud

Hopefully that will provide some context when you're listening to these songs. And, please, keep the feedback coming!

David Interesting to understand the rationale

I find the explanation interesting. I guess I get it, and I can apreciate it being experimental. But do you think it works - now that you have completed the experiment? I'm not certain, I wonder if you are putting up a road block to a potential listening audience?

Just curious I am not critic. Reviews and opinions are free - and that is generally all their worth. So feel free to give it no mind.
