Song Description

Shoebox

'Shoebox' is my current single from TRUST. You can find out more about the cd release of TRUST here. I wrote this song with Mac Powell of Third Day (he also produced TRUST) in Mac's home studio in Atlanta, GA. My next single should be coming out sometime during the month of January 2006 if you want to know when it comes out take a sec and sign up for my newsletter.

Do Over
Ever wish that you had the chance to do things over again? Maybe if our past had just been different then things would be better now? Some of us might even have a shoebox "or two" filled with things lost, missed, stolen, destroyed, regretted, etc., and maybe those "empty dreams that never came true" have us looking backwards and missing all the "better days" ahead.

Change
Changing our lives usually starts with letting go of one thing and embracing another.

This song is a declaration of freedom for the human heart.

My hope is that you will find encouragement in your own personal journey of leaving the past behind and embracing the wonders which are in front of us now.

t00-m0ch,
Chris

Shoebox
I’ve got a shoebox underneath my arm,
Yeah, its been draggin’ me down way too long.
Filled with empty dreams that never came true
I bet we all have got a box or two.

I’m letting go
Of all the things that are pulling me down
Now that I know
There’s so much for me than what’s come before
I’ve done made up my mind
Not wasting no more time
I’m leaving it behind

I’m tired of thinking ‘bout what might have been
How I could change my life and live it again
That’s just a lie trying to run me down
My better days are all in front of me now.

Chris never fails to deliver solid, honest songs. Again, he hits a home run with Shoebox. Great song to sing along with and remember our own collection of life's treasures or baggage.

better days - oh yeah!  better days - oh yeah!

i am currently moving ... and somewhere on that long (erie long like some hall in a Twilight Zone episode) list of things to get moved is my collection of shoeboxes (bootboxes and random boxes) filled with snippets from my life. my mother's writings, my 1000+ poems, every journal i haven't parted with, photos, my art, and assorted junk all the way to my childhood treasures of rocks and assorted odd things from arrow heads to comic books.... i am too busy, and maybe too wary to pop any one of those boxes open - cuz they really are filled with things time passed in it's never ending force march... my personal time capsule is filled with the typical - and way too much of it seems to be that kinda stuff ... where i got tangled along the way... so, i tagged this song, "inspirtational," because getting untangled is hard enough in the first place, and while we all stand in this present, moving - flowing from our past - the myth of "the good old days" or the "regrets of things which never came to be or died a cruel and lingering death" cannot compare to the better days... or like this great song says, "my better days are all in front of me now." gratton is right - reminds me of cali-dreamer too. peac4d. amos

Chris Carder was one of the first artists to post his music on Project Opus. So I was quick to listen to his latest song, Shoebox. It is a sweet feel good pop/rock song similar in style to California Dreamer. Chris has such a positive outlook in his songs - you have to smile.
