sAro's Biography

Born in Santa Barbara, CA, sAro? (Joshua A. Jones) has been writing and performing music as a solo musician and DJ for 7+ years. With influences spanning all music styles and genre, expect to hear a variety of textures, timbres and feelings.

sAro? started off in music in high school picking up guitar and singing and it's been a long time since that mold was broken. With an educational background in music theory, he intends his music to be thoughtful, emotional and somewhere outside the box of the main steam media's attention.

Admittedly, it was the more dark and experimental side of drum and bass that pulled his attention to electronic music. After settling in to his local unde..

Back after a long pause

Submitted by sAro on Fri, 2008-05-09 11:52.

Hi all,
It's sad that I've waited so long to post here again. I hope you cats are still tuning in occasionally. Today I am uploading 3 tracks

Layton's Easy (dnb mix)
Just as it sounds.

Waking Slowly
I line with what I really dig, it's trip hop splashed with dnb.

My Whatever (sAro? mix for Fiction City)
This is a remix of a track by Fiction City for which the original can be found at http://fictioncity.fuzz.com. The cats from fiction city approached me about selecting a song to remix for a new album of remixes. I'm very happy with how it turned out. It's ambient, jazzy and slightly symphonic. I hope you enjoy.

This is not a final product and I'd love to hear some feedback. Please give it a listen and post comments here or by private message. I'd really appreciate some critiques. The cymbals need work for sure, but what do you think? Any feedback welcome. I can take constructively harsh if that's what you got. thanks again for tuning in and keep listening for more. It's been a bit since I posted, but life is busy. I hope to post more tracks soon.

So...

Submitted by sAro on Wed, 2007-10-17 18:18.

...it's been about a month since I started posting my tunes online. I've had great responses so far and absolutely no negative feedback which is just about enough for me to be tickled pink. With two tracks (nearly) finished and posted and more in the pipe, I'm liking production more and more. I'd have to say that the pinnacle moment in producing is that point when a track turns from aural drivel into an interesting piece of music that I am excited about creating. Music is very emotional to me and is an outlet for pent up energies and frustrations. While my first productions are rather simple in composition by my standards, they well represent how I feel and how I approach music. I dislike overcomplications. I dislike redundancies. I like concise music that is driving towards it's goals without all the fluff. I'm looking forward to adding more tracks shortly, so keep an eye out for them. As always, thank you for listening and hit me up if you have any questions about what I'm doing.
