So a friend of mine showed me this cool rock version of the opening theme for Nightmare Before Christmas, performed by Marilyn Manson. I'm not a fan of him, but he surprisingly did a good job on this.

Hello everyone:

Music doesn't come to me that often these days. Late last week and over the weekend, I was blessed with a couple of ideas that I'd love to share with you guys:

pride (preliminary version):
The mood to write piano stuff comes and goes for me. This one came out of no where, and it's probably the best representation of how I play (i.e. improvise) piano in real life. (Still done in FLStudio though.) I always play slow and somber. The section you hear at 1:01 and in the outro is a pretty common stylistic thing for me. Not sure what that's actually called though.

Your Favorite Obscure Genre

Okay - so maybe not your 'favorite', but what are some obscure genres that you enjoy? By obscure, I mean genres that don't get thrown into the mainstream culture. For example, none of my friends know what trip hop is. (It's not really a genre I know well ... I'm just diving in. But, I do know I'm loving it right now.)

Slower is better?

I've been hearing about the music videos of Sigur Ros and finally found some on Last.FM.
It's really powerful music and images but it seems that they just slowed their music recordings and video footage down a whole lot to get that effect.
And it seems the same with all of their music I've heard so far.
But I like it... just like the Cocteau Twins from way back then.
