Brandon Laliberte Sr. has been playing the drums since the age of 14.
His first drumming experience began when he was asked to play in a marching group in Minneapolis.
Brandon was the first and only official "white" member of "The Children of Light".
His first teacher was a Mr. Maurice Clark.
A solid regiment of practicing, with rudimental studies, became Brandons focus.
Since a small child Brandon would watch Led Zeppelins "Song Remains The Same",whenever it aired on a public broadcast station.
Fascinated by the one they called "Bonzo",Brandon had found his calling.
His diverse musical background was attained from his family:
His father was into classic rock,while his mother listened to many country artist's.Brandon was introduced to funk/r&b/gospel..and a slight taste of jazz, by his caretaker Aunt who listened to music about 17 hours a day.The classical aspect was from his uncle,who was an artist/painter .
Years later he was introduced to drumming legend "William Berg",while in a mutual recording facility.
This opened up a whole new set of rules!
Relax/Relax/Relax... timing/swing/ were know Brandon's focus.
Brandon is a current student of drumming great "Gordy Knudtson"
Gordy's open/close technique as well as relaxation techniques/foot control and reading skills,
have opened up many new possibilities for Brandon.
Brandon has spent countless hours listening and studying drummers from the likes of:
Bonham,Neil Peart,Steve Smith,Dave Weckl,
Joe Joe Mayer,Danny Carey,Thomas Lang as well as many others.
Rock is Brandon's forte',but jazz and exotic rhythm concepts are Brandon's current escapade.
Brandon wants to become a full time session player,and would like to teach his art in the near future.
Brandon would also like to open a rec.center in Mpls.for kids,to keep them off the streets and expose them to different cultures and diverse musical backgrounds.
Traveling to as many countries is a definite must!
