Greatest Zombie Game Ever?

First off let me say i love zombies, i dont know why, this image i made of me and my girlfreind proves that.

Anyway i love zombie movies and games like Resident Evil. Always loved that game in fact RE5 comes out soon and that will be good. Left 4 Dead is a new zombie survival horror game from valve who made counter strike, half-life, team fortress and more. They have a good reputation and any game they make its good. I pre-ordered this game and just picked it up today, however, i been playing ...

This song is my normal style although it features a lot more vocals then usual, using vocals from a remix contest pack i put together a little tune i like.

I didnt make this for the contest but just found the samples fitting to what i wanted to create.

I also wanted to mention the new domain name, for awhile now www.omnifarious-music.com was upsetting me for a few reasons,

Nick Cave/Bad Seeds Catalog Gets Deluxe Reissues

Nick Cave has joined the push to up sell devote fans with "premium packages". Artists and labels have been late to grasp the fact that their core fan base is not impressed nor do the highly value MP3 by themselves. Expect a serious 'pile on' in the coming 6-12 months as everyone embraces new digital packaging ideas.

Dapper don Nick Cave and his old friends the Bad Seeds must be used to the deluxe treatment by now; after all, they're rock royalty if anybody is. But the band's monstrous back catalog? It may have never been treated so good before.

Mute Records is set to reissue remastered, 5.1 surround sound-enhanced versions of the entirety of the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds discography, with the initial batch of four titles due later in 2008. Cave and the Seeds' first four discs-- 1984's From Her to Eternity, 1985's The Firstborn Is Dead, 1986's Kicking Against the Pricks, and 1986's Your Funeral... My Trial-- make up that initial batch, and boy, are they in for a treat. The collector's editions will be double disc sets containing both the remastered stereo album and the new surround mix, B-sides, and new liner notes. Each album will also contain one of a series of short films (collectively titled Do You Love Me Like I Love You?) made by the UK-based team of Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.

Indeed, Forsyth and Pollard are putting together Do You Love right now, and they need your help! "Have you been affected by the songs of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds?" they ask on their website. If the answer is yes, and you'd like to explain just how in front of a camera, you should probably click here pronto.

In other Cave rumblings, the theatrical production of Georg Büchner's Woyzeck-- for which Nick Cave and Bad Seed/Dirty Three dude Warren Ellis composed music a couple years back-- is coming to NYC. Woyzeck will play at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House on October 15, 17, and 18 as part of BAM's Next Wave Festival.

Sony has announced that they are buying the 50% stake in Sony BMG held by German media giant Bertelsmann in a deal valued at $1.2 billion. The deal is a touch convoluted but it basically results in Bertelsmann receiving approximately $900 million in value for its 50% stake in Sony BMG.

"Last year the BMG unit saw revenue fall 27% to $2.25 billion while operating profit dropped 46% to $144 million." Bertelsmann obviously wanted out. The business is crumbling, and they are in no position to try and leverage the master recordings like Sony can with its electronic products. Sony understands that Apple leverages music to sell iPods. They should be able to do the same.

Wow im like super rusty right now. I thought it was time to make some music again, i have some free time so why not? Its actually NOT like riding a bike, i have to teach myself to be patient and get familiar with the process again. So really anything i make for awhile will be trial and error, i threw together the simplist of tracks just trying to practice getting the feel for composing again.

Well something i been meaning to do for at least a year and have even mentioned doing it at times is finally, slowly being worked on. What im doing is updating all the ID3 tags on my mp3 files for this site so that my old (artist name, or handle or nickname) or whatever you want to call is being replaced with “Omnifarious”.

This isn’t such an easy task as i have to edit the files and then upload them which would be no problem but im always trying to do something else at the sa ...

Well i decided today that i wanted to make another cd of music. I think when you create a certain number of similar sounding tracks or tracks from a certain point of your life or anytime a bunch of music just fits together because sometime the tracks compliment each other and should be together.

I removed an old album today, one that i had thrown together just for the heck of it and thats something you should never do especially if you ever want someone to take your music seriously and actually ...

Hey kids! Wanna sound just like your real-life guitar hero, Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan? Oh sure, you could stub that big toe pretty good, then make haste towards the microphone... or, er, you could head on down to wherever Fender instruments are sold and pick up one of the iconic guitar makers' new line of Billy Corgan Stratocaster guitars.

"Designed," as the press material would have us believe, "for maximum sound versatility"-- so that's why Mellon Collie was so long-- "the new Billy Corgan Stratocaster is an especially modern take on the iconic Fender Strat® model, built especially for a high-gain sound and designed to create Corgan's signature mid-'90s buzz saw tone."

Guitar tech geeks, rejoice: the Billy signature Strat sports "three DiMarzio pickups (two of which are custom-wound for the instrument), a string-through hard-tail bridge, jumbo frets, a satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish and a vintage tweed case." You can fondle Corgyboy's frets on one of two axes: the first, with "an Olympic White finish, with a black pickguard" and the other, "black finish with a white pickguard, reflective of Corgan's signature style." Yeah, he does like black and stuff.

Billy and company are still planning those big anniversary runs in NYC, L.A., and Chicago, though that's going down in August-- not, as first believed, in September. The first Chicago area date was just announced for August 9 at Hammond, Indiana's Horseshoe Casino.

The Gish shows, too, are on, though those have been moved back to 2009. The Gish box is still in the works, and the band wants your vintage Pumpkins photos. And there's also that DVD of their Fillmore run from last summer, but no further details have emerged since our last report. You guitar guys never can keep to a schedule, can you?

Radiohead Use Fancy Technology in Camera-Free Video

Take that, conventional music video-making wisdom! Radiohead don't have time for your petty, archaic devices, such as, um, the camera. Indeed, they've gone and made a new music video for In Rainbows' woozy "House of Cards" that doesn't make use of a camera at all!

Nope, the "Cards" clip instead utilizes two state-of-the-art fancy-pants hyperoptic-mumbo-jumbo-something-or-other multimedia technologies known as Geometric Informatics and Velodyne Lidar. Um, press release, a little help please?

Ah, here we go: "The Geometric Informatics scanning system employs structured light to capture detailed 3D images at close proximity, and was used to render the performances of Radiohead's Thom Yorke, the female lead, and several partygoers. The Velodyne Lidar system uses multiple lasers to capture large environments in 3D, in this case 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute, capturing all of the exterior scenes and wide party shots." Well shucks, ain't that somethin'?

The James Frost-directed video hasn't gone live quite yet, but when it does, you'll find it by clicking here. Until then, feast your eyes on some more stills presumably from the clip that Radiohead posted on Dead Air Space late last month.

Thus spake Thom Yorke in the press release: "I always like the idea of using technology in a way that it wasn't meant to be used, the struggle to get your head round what you can do with it. I liked the idea of making a video of human beings and real life and time without using any cameras, just lasers, so there are just mathematical points-- and how strangely emotional it ended up being."

Finally, much like they butchered "Nude" into convenient little iTunes pieces for your remixing pleasure, Radiohead will be sharing data used in the creation of their new video with fans, so that fans can do their own crazy, rave-y things with it. And good news for folks who think Velodyne Lidar sounds like a character in a fantasy novel: a documentary will soon surface showing just how all this fancy stuff was done.

The "House of Cards" clip and the accompanying fun are due to hit Google later today (July 10). UPDATE: The video launch has been pushed back to a later date, it seems.

The vocals used here were from a remix pack, i don't actually consider this song a remix as much as my own work. The artist who released t he files also released a disclaimer saying anyone could use the files in their own work as long as money was not involved. New Single from The Verve

Last week The Verve announced they're releasing their new CD on August 19th. My heart briefly pitter-pattered with excitement as I read the news, but I also was a bit fearful. What will the band will sound like 11 years after the release of Urban Hymns? Will any of their songs ever get past the Bittersweet Symphony comparison? Will this record be an improvement over Richard Ashcroft's solo efforts? You can understand my skepticism. This week the band is streaming their new single Love Is Noise on their MySpace in an effort to put those fears to rest. It's a straight-ahead rocker (no, it doesn't sound like Bittersweet Symphony or Lucky Man) that should do its part to tweak the public's interest in the band again - at least until we can get more than this tiny taste of the new record.

For those of us who grew up in Canada, the Hockey Theme (a.k.a. The Hockey Night in Canada Theme Song) is as familiar as our national anthem. However, the end of the '07/'08 season also means the end of one of the longest running license deals in broadcast history. Mathew Ingram is bringing up important considerations with regard to Jim Griffin's plan to Tax ISPs for music data on their networks. I have talked with Jim about this at SxSW, and he hates the term tax, he calls it (I'll paraphrase) "an agreed upon and negotiated fee (without government intervention) with an ISP, which will eliminate the threat of being sued by the RIAA et al." In this sense Mike Arrington is correct in calling it "Protection Money". However, as the courts have determined ISPs are NOT liable for the data transmitting through their lines. So unless the government legislates away this protection, what exactly is the incentive for an ISP?

Wow, I'm still somewhat shocked that there are people who believe that subscriptions are the answer. The problem is marketing. Rhapsody (and formally Yahoo!) doesn't know how to properly market the service. Yahoo! Music is the number 1 music site on the Web. If they can't market a music service I'm not sure who can. For Christmas of 2005, I bought Barenaked on a Stick. It was a USB stick that contained songs mostly from their Barenaked For The Holidays album.

On February 15th, my family and I are moving to a new home. It's in Edgemont Village about 5 blocks away from where we are now, but a much nicer place. Yeah nicer place, but moving is a brutal experience even when it is only 5 blocks away. So imagine Mandy's reaction when I mentioned that I was already booked to attend or present at a number of conferences over the next 6 weeks.

I have received a number of requests from artists for varied licensing structures for the music they upload. I would like comment on these. Do we offer interfaces to handle of this?

First regarding the music people can listen to for free on the site:

I want my free-to-listen music only streamed. I do not want people to download the songs. (I personally believe this is flawed thinking, but it is a frequent request.)

I've been a sleep at the wheel. It seemed so far off, and I wasn't too concerned. I honestly thought this would take care of itself with some smart people focused on the issue. But now, Michael Geist has made it clear that the Government is tabling new copyright legislation this session.
