I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to North America in 1989. I began playing the acoustic guitar at the age of ten, later taking lessons at the famous Crossroads Guitar Shop in Port Moody. I began writing in high school with the help of a teacher who stayed late to help me record my demo. Many performances ensued, including a performance on the CBC and at local coffee shops and pubs. I have recently been on hiatus from music - due to studying Marketing full-time at BCIT. I am graduating in a matter of months and can't wait to get out and have a little more time to get back into music!!

My thoughts on Cold Day in July
No, my boyfriend did not die. He just left. "Here I am standing in my bare feet - watching you drive away."
And the quality is a little rough, I know. It was recorded at my highschool using a really bad quality mic and no pick-up for the guitar. It was pretty spontaneous and we didn't much prepare. All of my songs are unmixed and done in single takes. That's how I like it. If I mess up, I want you to know about it.

I so wish I could create an eighth day of the week.. It seems like if I had more time, I could go to school, work, and still find time to gig..
I got together for coffee with a couple friends from highschool the other night - one of the first catch-up questions they asked was "Are you still going to be a country music star??".. I felt so sad saying "Uhh, no.. I'm in school full-time and I don't really have the time to practice and all that stuff.. you know how it is.."

I am going to be uploading my first single today. I am really excited about the prospect of being part of Project Opus - finally! Now I am just debating which of my two songs to upload. Hmm.. My Dixie Chicks cover or my original song? I don't want to scare people with country. But my blues song is a little sad and pretty raw in terms of recording quality. I'll have to think about it. I really hope everyone enjoys my song(s) and let's see if this makes me any moolah!! Then I can use that money to go and record more songs!! Then I can upload those songs and people will download them and I will make some more money!! Then I can use that money to record more songs!!
