Boomchix was originally formed in 2002 by Janice Dunbar (vocals, & guitar) and Barb Wilkins (vocals & mandolin) with their great friend Shelley Brown (bass & vocals). They played together for a few years as a trio until (sadly) Shelley made her decision to move away from Vancouver.
Before she left, Janice and Barb decided to go into the studio and record the bed tracks to what would become their debut CD "Surprise Surprize".
While preparing for the release of their CD, they re-invented Boomchix with Gord (Gorehound) Smithers on electric guitar and dobro, John Werner on bass, Benny Strylove on drums and sometimes Meredith Bates on violin. You can catch a show at various venues around Vancouver.
