TeachONE is an emcee who grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California. Even though he has been writing hip-hop lyrics since his early teens, he is only now at the age of 27 starting to put his music out there for others to hear. This new desire to be heard has come out of two things: First and foremost is the fact that Hip-Hop has been a lifelong passion for him, and eventually it was going to come out in a public way. Second, and probably more importantly is that as a teacher his goal is to lead and inspire through action. He is currently a teacher in what most peeps consider to be the birthplace of Hip-Hop, The South Bronx. He is fortunate enough to teach three subjects he loves with a passion; English, Social Studies, and the crowning achievement a class on writing Hip-Hop lyrics. As a teacher his goal is to model the drive and desire it takes to make it in Hip-Hop while still keeping the integrity of the art form intact.
TeachONE is humble about his skills, as he has spent much of his life pursuing many goals beyond Hip-Hop that had to come first. However, in his music you will find that his goals are clearly stated: Describe the problem, take the problem head on, and create a way to fix it. His goals are to improve the lives of people who live in what most people condescendingly call the "ghetto." A product of the "wrong side of the tracks" in a fairly affluent suburb, he makes no claims on being "ghetto," but his actions always show that he has a fairly strong understanding of the struggles of the people he works for and fights for. His first goal is taken on at the micro-level every day when he steps into a classroom in the Bronx as he strives to give students of all races, cultures, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, etc the opportunity to learn what it takes to succeed in a country where the odds are invariable stacked against those who do not fit the image of the "mainstream." His next goal is to use music to shine a light on what he thinks may be some of the answers to some of the most difficult questions we face on the Macro level.
