High cost of music part 2...........

Submitted by Wade Mosher on Thu, 2007-07-19 16:49.

In my previous blog I suggested allowing the artist to have the ability to have more options on the cost to download music on Project Opus. Some great ideas were brought up. I loved Uberbelly's idea of the ability to download the artwork, print it & make your own CD. The only problem with that is most people don't have state of the art printers & the cost of high quality paper will likely always be unavoidable. (Not great for the environment either. I like to take my cue from Madonna because she's so RAD when it comes to that kind of stuff.) In the meantime I'll be offering free downloads of certain songs at various times. Hopefully fans will take advantage of this & listen or maybe purchase other music I have available here. I've just changed the status of 3 of my songs to free downloads. They're in orange, easy enough? Thanks for having a listen.

THE HIGH COST OF MUSIC

Submitted by Wade Mosher on Wed, 2007-07-04 13:23.

First of all, I'd like to say that I appreciate sites like PROJECT OPUS & how they help artists get their music heard. However, I find the cost of music here much too high. We're selling MP3's to fans for the price of 16 bit quality without giving them the advantage of owning an actual hard copy. I'm on other sites & offer my full CD's for approximately $5.00 US. I'm getting more sales because of this. The old world record label idea is dead & fans are aware of that. As an example Trent Reznor has stated that he has one album left to fulfill his contract. After that he says he'll be selling his music online through sites like this using PayPal for the low price of $4-$5 US, bypassing the labels. If his fans want the hard copy they will order it online.
